Sixers Win BBall Spotlight
Memorial Day Classic Champions
May 30, 2010
There are few words to describe this weekend's tournament at the BBall Spotlight Memorial Day Classic. The one that I believe fit the effort and play of the young men this weekend is simply...WOW!
The Fabulous 5, the 5 Heartbeats or the Magnificent 5 are a few words to describe the players this weekend. To the families who traveled this weekend...thank you! This team with stood a hurricane (Elizabeth Ballers); a Typhoon (NY Gauchos) and Wave (MD Spartans) to claim the 10u Age Division Championship.
The team won each game by 15 or more points per game. The team played exceptional "team basketball" and the onlookers were amazed by what they witnessed by this team.
It was a lot of hard work for these young men, but they game 110% of all they had to win it ALL!

8u Sixers - Finish 3rd in Classic
July 8, 2010

Congratulations to the players, coaches and parents for representing the Metro Sixers
at the 8u AAU National tournament in Memphis, TN. Eight and under is a very interesting age
division to attend AAU nationals. The most important thing too remember is that these
a re 8 year olds. The outcome of an AAU
national tournament or any other tournament does not define the quality of the team or the players.
It simply means that for that day or particular weekend there were other teams that were better. However, it can be used as a
measuring stick to clearly understand what it takes to compete on that level.
Again, we are so proud of the team's positive attitude and continue hard work during the
week. There are several other teams who journeyed to Memphis and did not comeback
with a trophy and medals.

10u Sixers Reach MIT Final Four
June 13, 2010
Congratulations to the 10u Sixers for an excellent tournament. The 10u Sixers showed why Potomac Valley is one of the toughest districts in AAU. The Maryland Invitational Tournament (MIT) was filled with the Who's Who in AAU. Many of national teams that placed at 9u AAU National were in attendance.
In the MOST unbearable conditions one could imagine the teams played well and performed at a very high caliber. The Sixers won their pool facing off Long Island Lighting (NY); QCAA Force Blue (NC).
Once pool play completed and the playoffs began, we started with Hoop Dreams (KY); and then we faced national level competition in EOTO (GA) (Runner-Up 9u AAU National). The third round of the MIT playoffs was against Riverside Hawks (NY). The team played well and fought to the very end...but, this time we came up short.
The measure of this weekend is a true indication that our 10u Sixers can play on a national level with the best that AAU has to offer. This weekend was all about the nationals which is one month away. WE ARE READY!
Fall Basketball League - FINAL Results
November 8, 2010
We just completed the completed the playoffs
for the 2010 Fall League. We want to congratulate all of the teams for a very good season. Our championship weekends have become
synonymous with high caliber of play and intensity. This weekend was no different and
we are very happy to see all of the parents in attendance for the kids.
After eight years of running a fall league, we have closed another chapter in the history of
the Metro Sixers. We want to thank all of the teams over the years for participating in our annual fall league and we believe our efforts
have contributed to several players now in their college years.
However, we will continue our winter league
and tournaments in the coming future. We hope to see in one our future events.
Holiday Family Sponsors
December 19, 2010
Saturday's adventure was a lot of fun. The guys said they enjoyed it. The program volunteers really enjoyed and appreciated having them participate. Our contribution was to pack food boxes for the SHARE program. The boxes had to be ready by 8:45am for pick up. The guys also helped transport the boxes to the cars.
Thanks for allowing them to participate. Perhaps, we'll do it again in the spring to give other players a chance to experience the pleasure of giving back to the community.
A special thanks goes out to Kim Slater, 11u Team Manager for organizing and locating this worthwhile program for the players to support during the holidays! Job Well done!
