12u Metro Sixers - Final Four in the MIT Tournament
February 20, 2012

The 12u Sixers won their pool and advance to the playoff brackets.  The first game was against New Renaissance of New York.  A very talented team that lead by as many as 10 points through the first half.

However, the second half it was "Sixers Time" and Coach Kelvin put on a relentless press which caused several turnovers in a row.  The run caused the lead to be erased and the Sixers went up on top and never looked back.  The Sixers won by double digits.

The Final Four game was against an old rival the MD Scholars of Baltimore.  As always these teams are so evenly matched and last year on the same floor in the Final Four the Sixers won by 20 points.  A year later the results are slightly different.  MD Scholars defeated the Sixers to advance to the Championship game.

In the past three years, the Metro Sixers has been the most consistent team in the MIT tournament for it's age division.  The has placed in 2010 Final Four; 2011 Championship; 2012 Final Four.  Great Job!

11u Metro Sixers - In Championship Game of MIT Tournament
February 20, 2012

The 5th Grade team played three tough games this weekend against (NY-New Heights, PV-Team Takeover). The team won it's pool and advanced to the Final Four playoffs. The first game in playoffs would be against DC Assault which they defeated to advance to the championship game against Team Takeover.

The Sixers previously defeated Team Takeover in pool play and this would be a rematch.  The game was hard fought with the Sixers trailing most of the game.  We had several runs that brought the team to within a couple points, but could never sustain the momentum.  Team Takeover won the 2012 5th Grade Division.

Congratulations for a job well done!

10u Metro Sixers - Final Four in the MIT Tournament
Febraury 20, 2012

The 4th Grade team played three tough games this weekend against (NY-Swish City Magic; VA - Loudoun Triple Threat; PV -Team Takeover).  The Sixers won their pool and advanced to the Final Four playoffs.  The Sixers game would be against Team Glory who they previously defeated two weeks ago in the DMV winter league.

The Sixers defeated Team Glory and advanced to the semi-final against the New York Gauchos. Only to come up short in a loss. The game was very intense and a good test of what to come at the nationals this summer.

Congratulations for a job well done!
